Leonard "Pete" Hicks

Chief Leonard “Pete” Hicks has dedicated more than two decades to serving and protecting the citizens of Alabama through a distinguished career in law enforcement. Although not a native of Bibb County, Chief Hicks began his public safety career in 2002 as a Jailer with the Bibb County Jail. Seeking to expand his law enforcement experience, Chief Hicks went on to serve with several agencies throughout Central Alabama.

Throughout his career, Chief Hicks has received numerous professional honors, including Officer of the Year, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Exemplary Service Award. He is recognized for his commitment to ethical leadership, community engagement, officer development, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in law enforcement.

Chief Hicks is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security and Public Safety. His professional training also includes advanced studies in criminal justice, criminal investigations, and digital forensics.

In June 2024, Chief Hicks returned to Bibb County after being selected to serve as West Blocton’s Chief of Police.

As Chief, he is committed to building strong relationships between the police department and the community, ensuring professional and ethical law enforcement services, and maintaining a safe environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Chief Hicks believes that effective policing begins with trust, transparency, and community engagement. He remains dedicated to providing professional law enforcement services while working collaboratively with citizens, businesses, schools, and community organizations to make West Blocton a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
